Eye to Eye With Nature

As I was editing more pictures of us feeding the elk, I noticed how often we were making eye contact with the animals.  I thought to myself that this is probably part of why it touched us so much to interact with them.  There is just something so profound about looking animals in the eye and having them return the favor.

Catching up -- hard to keep up when traveling as you know. Your nephew (I think he is) looks like he's haveing the best time.

About eye-to-eye with animals, one of our family's fondest memeories is the first time we saw seals off the pier at Florence OR, just after we moved to Lane County. We were watching them and they kept surfacing and looking up at us -- we didn't know who was having more fun watching who! My grown-up kids still remember that.

What a great story! I bet they do still remember that.

I have been following your travels too, but for some reason it has not been letting me leave comments.

Again - what beautiful pics, Krystal! The elk are gorgeous. I love how Elijah loved them, too. What wonderful memories.

We sure can't feed the elk here... Seems they're always turning and going the other way when they see people. :)
