Kartchner Caverns State Park

From Nathan: Auburn and I went to Kartchner Caverns State Park to enjoy some of the trails. The main trail here is a 2.5 mile trail that was described as medium difficult, which we found really means there is some elevation gain, and rough terrain.

We saw a wide variety of desert plant life but limited wildlife which included 2 kinds of rabbits, and an assortment of birds. The highlight of the trip is when we saw a Coral Snake. We saw an Eastern Coral Snake when one landed on me after falling out of a tree in Highland Hammock
State park in Florida. So we were quite surprised to find one in the desert. With a little investigation we found the Western Coral Snake does indeed inhabit these parts so we're not delusional. I disappeared into it's hole next to a cactus, before I could get a picture, but we did get a good look at the snake skin he left outside his home.

We were a little winded at several points in this hike, but overall it was pretty easy, we all enjoyed it, including Ace. Dogs are allowed in the State park hiking trails in Arizona, unlike the National Parks.
