Phosphate Mining

Last year when we drove up to visit my family for Thanksgiving, we saw an enormous something or other that in the dark looked like something from a science fiction movie. We wondered what it was, but never did find out. Today as we drove home, we saw it again. This time we were able to see signs of a company that pointed us in a direction to do some research. It appears that it is a machine to do phosphate mining with. Which also led us to some research that indicates that this is a problem for Florida. We are still reading to see if this is something we can become involved with. It's so great when our curiosity leads us down a path that we hadn't planned. The machine is still fascinating to us:
