We visit a lot of museums, as you can probably tell from our blog. We love museums. Well, most of us love museums. Ok, really mom and dad love museums and we are hoping that someday the teens will love museums too. I was just sharing with Diana that I am getting burned out on museums though. Mainly children's museums because they tend to do the same things for exhibits for the most part. That or we are incredibly talented in following the same path as the traveling exhibits.
Today, I thought I died and went to museum heaven though. I got to visit a big people museum and it was photography. It was like when Ben & Jerry's took two great ice creams and put them together in the same container so you could feel moderately sensible with the number of ice cream pints in your cart and yet not have to stand in front of the frozen food section door for hours while you tried to narrow it down to one...or two. Maybe even a bit better than that. It was really great.
And if this were not great enough, they had an Ansel Adams display. There were two other displays there by talented photographers that were really cool. But Ansel Adams! I tried to be really calm and collected like art museum people always are. You know those people that stand in front of the picture and tilt their head to one side as if the picture is sharing volumes of wisdom with just them and don't move for a solid ten minutes or so. But being the dork I am, I just couldn't do it. I was giddy to be there so I practically ran through the gallery darting from one picture to the next as if I thought it might be a dream and I was going to wake up. Then to further embarass myself, I went back and started at the beginning again. And then again. I tried to not make it obvious that I was doing so by casually strolling through the lobby and entering the front again as if I were new. I'm pretty sure they caught on by the third time though. Oh well, it was worth it.
I wish I had pictures to share but we got the impression that pictures were not allowed. We got that impression because of all of the photography geeks (like us) were wearing their gear around their necks as if to prove they belonged, but then not one person actually used their camera. Which never happens with people like us, unless it is banned. If you know otherwise and have information that we could have taken photos, please spare me the heartache and keep the info to yourself.
We are going to try and sneak back to Balboa Park, teen free, for our date this week so we can hit two or three museums in a row. Hopefully I can take pictures at some of them.

Fabulous! I can just see you being giddy, like a kid in a candy store. LOL.
It was the best! BTW, you have introduced me to Sparks now. I keep hearing you refer to it and had to go and check it out. It looks great.
That sounds wonderful! I have this dream of someday walking, no, *gliding*, unencumbered by children, into an art glass museum where I leisurely stroll, appreciating each nuance of every form and color without once hearing the sound of glass shattering or a child complaining about how *boring* this is...*sigh* Someday...
