We visited this neat place first, an Estuarium on the island. We watched an informative movie about Dauphin Island and the estuary and we learned that Mobile competes with Seattle for the city that gets the most rain each year. There were turtles in almost every tank, much to Austin's delight. He likes turtles. We also learned that there are 32 kinds of seahorses and they are all endangered right now.We really like this guy (or girl) and spent a lot of time watching him move around:A rare picture of Auburn, where she not only allowed the shot, she posed for it!The kids cracked up at the schooling tank, so this is what schooling is:Austin has decided he wants a jelly fish instead of a lava lamp. I agree with him.
I'm with Austin! Jellyfish are among my favorite creatures - I could sit and watch them for hours. The souvenir I bought myself in Gatlinburg was a big paperweight with a jellyfish (just blown glass, not real) inside.
As we were seeing the world, we shared what we see with underprivileged children. If you'd like to help this great cause, you can read more about how to help here: Reach the World
"Our aim in education is to give a full life. We owe it to them to initiate an immense number of interests. Life should be all living, and not merely a tedious passing of time; not all doing or all feeling or all thinking - the strain would be too great - but, all living; that is to say, we should be in touch wherever we go, whatever we hear, whatever we see, with some manner of vital interest."
